The Beauty of Arabic Script
The Arabic script is a writing system used for many languages in Asia and Africa, such as Arabic, Persian, Urdu, and Pashto. It is written from right to left in a cursive style.
Arabic Calligraphy & Ligatures
One of the most unique aspects of Arabic Unicode is the inclusion of "Ligatures." These are specific symbols where an entire phrase is represented by a single character. The most famous is the Bismillah (﷽), which translates to "In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."
Typography and Tatweel
In Arabic typography, the character known as Tatweel (ـ) is used to stretch out words for aesthetic or decorative purposes, especially in calligraphy. Unlike English, where you might use bold text, Arabic users often use stretching to emphasize words or fill space beautifully.
